In American Steel Wool Works, 1986 factory workers slice steel to produce steel wool. Again the labor is hard: two workers pump the engine by hand. A gear turns a steel cutter to produce shreds, which in turn enter an apparatus that miraculously converts them into steel wool pads (without the pink added). A bell-ringing flag proclaims that this is “American” steel wool.
